One of the hottest days of the year saw the NHS and Bolton Council’s Get Active team stage the annual NHS Fun Tri event. Aquila Shelters was selected to provide blue & white marquees to match the event branding.

A total of 450 competitors swam, cycled and ran the challenging course before crossing the finishing line in the middle of Station Park, Horwich. Arriving to loud cheers from friends, family and spectators most of the triathletes headed to the cool shade of the recovery tent provided by a 6m x 12m marquee shelter.

Once inside, students from the University of Bolton treated competitors to refreshments and a massage. With enough room to set up a large number of massage tables the marquees provided welcome relief after the exertions.

UV Protection from Marquee Shelters

With registration starting at 7am and the finish being in a public park it was necessary to install the marquee very early on the morning of the event and to be clear by mid-afternoon. Thanks to the speed of installation and dismantling the marquees were ready to be used by 6:30am and had been removed in under an hour.

To prevent sunstroke and dehydration in the heat Aquila’s marquee shelters provided the perfect sheltered rest area. Aquila’s canopies are constructed from a UV resistant PVC coated fabric that allows light to pass through while totally protecting anyone sheltering beneath them. There are more than 100 Aquila canopies installed as sun-shelters in schools and restaurants throughout the UK. With an open archway entrance and vented window walls the air circulation and temperature made being inside the tent even more comfortable. In school settings this means that sun shelters can also be walled and used as outdoor classrooms.
